LEVI BOLTON, JR., PLEA BOARD CHAIRMAN, RETIREMENT PARTY 02/28/08

Officer Bolton joined the force in 1975 

PHOENIX, AZ—Levi Bolton, Jr., who joined the Phoenix Police Department in June, 1975, was honored recently by ABLE (Arizona Black Law Enforcement Employees) with an award for his dedicated service to the people of Phoenix.  Officer Bolton’s service will be celebrated from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. February 28th.  At 1 p.m. Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon will join the festivities at the PLEA Office, (1102 W. Adams) honoring Bolton for his more than 30 years of service to the City.   

Mark Spencer, PLEA President commented, “Levi and I worked for years together in public housing.  As a Walking Beat Officer, he brought improvement to the Department and hope to the community through his Buckeye Road Initiative and the Disruptive Offender Programs.  As an African American he brought intelligent and insightful diversity to our police Association. He strengthened PLEA and made it more sensitive and effective.”

Bolton, who has served as Chairman of the Board of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) for more than 18 months, is no stranger to recognition for his service to the people of Phoenix and the Phoenix Police Department.  During his tenure with the Phoenix Police Department Bolton has received more than 120 commendations and five medals of lifesaving. 

Other honors include: the KPHO-TV 5 Outstanding Police Service Award, City of Phoenix Award of Excellence, Medal of Merit, three unit commendations, Son's of the American Revolution Law Enforcement Medallion, and the Insurance Underwriters Officer of the Year Award.   

For more than 30 years PLEA has represented the rank and file members of the Phoenix Police Department and their dependents.
