GAZ CRITTENDEN, PRINCETON GRADUATE, YALE LAW SCHOOL GRADUATE,
AUTHOR, JUNGLE RULES: A NOVEL OF VIETNAM: “JOHN KERRY’S FAILURE TO
APOLOGIZE MISSES THE POINT.”
PHOENIX, AZ—“John Kerry put himself in harm's way in
Viet Nam. For that he is entitled to respect. He can also be
respected for having the moral courage to speak out against a war he
does not believe in. But he cannot expect to have it both ways - to
oppose a conflict and still be perceived as supporting the troops
who are engaged in it. I have no doubt that John Kerry did not
intend his recent remarks to be directed at our troops; but that
misses the fundamental point, which is that making any kind of snide
joke about ‘getting stuck in Iraq’ is just as damaging to our
troops' morale as if it had been directed at them.” Gaz Crittenden,
Viet Nam Veteran and Author of Novel Jungle Rules.
