PHOENIX, AZ--"What right does he have to investigate people based on the color of their skin, or their accent or the way they look," said Phoenix attorney Antonio Bustamante. Bustamente made this remark in response to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio installing a hot line to allow County residents to inform him of possible illegal activities by illegal aliens.  Newly elected PLEA President, Mark Spencer, has come out in favor of reporting illegal aliens to ICE when they are stopped by police for traffic violations, etc.  Spencer is coming under heat from City and police officials while law enforcement officers whole-heartedly support his stance.  Phoenix police officers George V.             Community activist Carole Bartholomeaux states, “This is not an Arizona issue; it is a national issue.  We do not want to end up like California.  As a second generation native Arizonan, I have had friends of Hispanic or Latino descent all my life.  That is not the question here.  Recently, a friend was denied Social Security claims because Social Security is so tight.  My friend works part-time for the City of Phoenix because she has second and third degree burns over 65 percent of her body.  Why is the Social Security Administration checking this taxpayer so closely?  $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year.  $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.  See a trend here?  But that is not the worst of it.  It is the deadly attacks on our law enforcement officers which should frighten every citizen the most. If someone will use deadly force against a police officer what safety do the rest of us have?”
